StruXure Pergola X vs. Azenco R-BLADE vs. Renson Camargue: An Honest Comparison for Dallas–Fort Worth Homeowners
If you've started researching motorized pergolas, you've almost certainly run across the same three names: StruXure Pergola X, Azenco R-BLADE, and Renson Camargue. They're the brands architects, designers, and luxury homeowners keep landing on — and for good reason. All three are premium, aluminum, motorized louvered pergola systems that operate on a different level than the big-box kits or entry-level competition.
So which one is actually right for a DFW home?
That's what this guide is designed to help you figure out. We install StruXure exclusively at Goodlux Outdoor — and yes, that means we have a point of view. But we've also sat across the table from homeowners who came in with Azenco and Renson quotes, and we've had those honest conversations about the tradeoffs. What follows is the most straightforward comparison we know how to give you.
The Short Version: What Makes These Three Different
All three systems share a common profile: extruded aluminum construction, motorized louvered roofs that pivot to control sun and rain, smart-home integration, and dealer-only installation. They're all customizable, all premium, and all represent a real investment in your outdoor living space.
The meaningful differences come down to:
Where they're manufactured and how that affects lead times and service
Wind and weather performance ratings — especially important in North Texas
Warranty depth and what's actually covered
Local dealer availability and post-installation support
How each system integrates into a full outdoor kitchen or living space project
Side-by-Side Comparison: StruXure Pergola X vs. Azenco R-BLADE vs. Renson Camargue
The table below reflects publicly available specifications and our direct experience installing and servicing these categories of product in DFW.
StruXure Pergola X — Deep Dive
What It Is
The Pergola X is StruXure's flagship motorized louvered pergola system, designed and manufactured in the United States. StruXure pioneered the smart pergola category in 2009 and has been the benchmark for dealer-installed motorized pergolas in the residential luxury market ever since.
What Makes It Stand Out
Made in the USA — faster lead times, domestic supply chain, and US-based customer support
Unmatched design flexibility: custom angles, non-rectangular configurations, and architectural detailing designed to match your home's existing style — something competitors simply can't replicate
Smart technology via Bond Bridge, connecting seamlessly with any home automation system — Control4, Lutron, Savant, or whatever you already have
The most complete add-on ecosystem in the category: integrated heaters, fans, motorized screens, architectural lighting, Sonos-compatible speakers, backdrop walls, and custom architectural features
6 standard powder-coat colors plus full custom RAL color matching
15-year powder-coat warranty and 5-year motor warranty
Limited lifetime structural warranty
What to Know
StruXure's Pivot 6 louvers rotate 170 degrees — nearly twice the range of Azenco's 90-degree maximum and more than Renson's 150-degree Camargue. That rotation difference is meaningful on a sunny afternoon, not just when it rains. StruXure is also the only pergola manufacturer in the industry with ICC (International Code Council) certification — the national standard that DFW building inspectors reference for permits.
StruXure is only sold and installed through a certified dealer network. In the Dallas–Fort Worth market, Goodlux Outdoor is a certified StruXure dealer.
Azenco R-BLADE™ — Deep Dive
What It Is
Azenco Outdoor is a Hunter Douglas Outdoor brand with US assembly operations in Hialeah, Florida. The R-BLADE is their flagship motorized louvered pergola and is frequently cited for its dual-wall louver construction and Miami-Dade NOA certification.
What Makes It Stand Out
Dual-wall louvers provide tight sealing and greater resistance to sag over longer spans
Miami-Dade NOA certified — one of the most stringent wind and impact certifications in the US building industry
Published wind rating of up to 190 mph
15-year structural warranty, 5-year motor warranty
Maximum single-zone span of approximately 15 feet wide x 22 feet 10 inches long — slightly larger than some competitors
What to Know
One important note on the wind rating: Azenco's published figure of 190 mph is a product page marketing statement. No independent certification body is cited. StruXure's 150 mph rating is ICC-certified — verified by an independent, nationally recognized body accepted by local building departments across the country. When it comes to permitting in Southlake or Highland Park, the ICC certification is what inspectors reference.
Azenco also does not publish a warranty term on their R-BLADE product page. For homeowners investing $50,000 or more in a luxury outdoor structure, that's a meaningful gap. Azenco dealer presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth market is also limited compared to StruXure's certified dealer network.
Renson Camargue® — Deep Dive
What It Is
Renson is a Belgian company with over a century of history in ventilation and outdoor living products. The Camargue is their flagship louvered pergola, and it's a genuinely beautiful system — the aesthetic and design language of the Camargue reflects European architectural sensibility in a way that stands out from American and Florida-assembled competitors.
What Makes It Stand Out
Premium European design — the Camargue is frequently cited for its clean, architectural look
Up to 150° blade rotation — more range than most competitors
Miami-Dade certified
10-year structural warranty, with 15-year coating warranty available with annual maintenance using Renson's maintenance kit
Integrated audio available as a factory option
Renson Connect app for full smart control
What to Know
Renson's Camargue is manufactured in Belgium. The Camargue is rated to approximately 99 mph — and the Camargue Skye, which features the fully retractable roof, drops to approximately 75 mph in retract mode. In a DFW market that sees severe thunderstorm wind events regularly, this is worth understanding before you fall in love with the retractable roof option.
The warranty structure also includes a nuance worth noting: the 15-year coating warranty requires annual maintenance using Renson's specific maintenance kit. If that maintenance isn't performed, the extended warranty doesn't apply.
Which Pergola System Makes the Most Sense in Dallas–Fort Worth?
North Texas has specific demands that make some specs more relevant than others:
Heat and UV: DFW summers are brutal. You need a pergola that handles year-round outdoor living, not just mild weather.
Hailstorms: DFW is one of the most hail-active regions in the country. All three systems are aluminum and powder-coated, but local installation expertise matters enormously for proper anchoring and drainage.
Wind: North Texas doesn't get Miami-level hurricane events, but strong spring and summer storm systems with 60–80 mph gusts are common.
Outdoor Kitchen Integration: If you're doing a full outdoor living project — pergola, outdoor kitchen, concrete work — having one team coordinate the whole project is a significant advantage.
For most DFW homeowners investing in a luxury outdoor living project, StruXure's Pergola X represents the most practical choice: US-made, locally supported by a certified dealer, with the deepest ecosystem of integrated add-ons and a proven track record across the DFW market.
If your priority is the highest published wind rating and you have a commercial-grade application or a specific structural requirement that the R-BLADE's dual-wall louver addresses — Azenco earns serious consideration, provided you can verify local dealer support.
If the Belgian design aesthetic is a non-negotiable for your project's architectural vision, Renson Camargue is a genuinely premium product. Just go in with clear eyes on lead times and the warranty maintenance requirements.
Questions to Ask Any Pergola Installer Before You Sign
Regardless of which system you're considering, here are the questions that matter:
Are you a certified dealer for this brand? (Warranty is typically void if installed by a non-authorized dealer)
What's your local service response time if something needs adjustment after installation?
Do you handle permitting, concrete, and site prep — or is that a separate contractor?
Can I see a completed project in the DFW area?
What's included in my warranty, and how do I register it?
